600 philanthropists from all over the world in Cascina Triulza to dialogue with civil society

The occasion is Aga Meeting in Milan, the annual international meeting of major philanthropic organizations in the world

Cascina Triulza hosted 600 delegates from the major philanthropic organizations in the world who have met in Milan May from 20th to 2th at the 26th edition of the AGA Meeting, the Annual General Meeting of the European Foundation Centre ( EFC ) in Brussels.

The visit of the representatives of the leading philanthropic organizations in the world of Civil Society Pavilion of Expo Milano 2015 is part of the collaboration between Triulza Foundation and Cariplo Foundation. The two foundations have also activated 10 PhD students with the aim of creating a link between what is being discussed nell'AGA Meeting and what is being proposed in Cascina Triulza. Their names are: Monica Bernardi, Rossella Ferorelli, Alessandro Frigerio, Chiara Galbersanini; Jean Baptiste Geissler, Elena Lombardo, Elisa Longoni, Elisa Ricciuti, Giacomo Tagiuri e Laura Zoboli supported by prof. Giuliana Costa, University Politecnico di Milano, project manager.

Closely paralleling the EXPO theme of ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’, our conference will not only embrace the challenge of the sustainable development of our planet but will go beyond to also focus on youth driving change, government and corporate engagement for social equality and community resilience,” said Gerry Salole, Chief Executive, European Foundation Centre. “

Keynote speakers at this year’s conference plenaries include Kumi Naidoo, International Executive Director of Greenpeace and the first African to head the organisation; Ellen Dorsey, Executive Director of the Wallace Global Fund and an impassioned advocate for international human rights and environmental sustainability; Aristos Doxiadis, a Greek economist specialising on the institutional aspects of the present Greek economic crisis; Patrick Holden, founding director of the Sustainable Food Trust; and Camilla Toulmin, Director of the International Institute for Environment and Development.

The Conference will provide a valuable opportunity for foundations to meet and engage with civil society and in particular with the Third Sector on issues critical to the development and the future of philanthropy.
