The Manifesto "Terra Viva" will open the debate on "our soil, our commons, our future in a new vision for planetary citizenship” on May 2 at Expo 2015 in Cascina Triulza, the Civil Society Pavilion. The document is based on the contribution of a panel led by the Indian ecologist Vandana Shiva which includes experts from different countries and disciplines, among the others: Luc Gnacadja, former secretary of the UN Convention on Desertification; Andrea Baranes, economist; the Nigerian architect Nnimmo Bassey. At the world launch of the Manifesto will intervene Vandana Shiva, the Italian Minister of Agriculture Maurizio Martina, the founder of movement Libera Father Luigi Ciotti, the president of Banca Etica, Ugo Biggeri. In the UN Year of Soil, the Manifesto shows how critical issues and crises are interconnected and cannot be addressed separately: soil destruction, climate change, unemployment, growing inequality, growing violence and wars. It is urgent a transition from the current linear, extractive way of thinking to a circular approach based on reciprocal giving and taking, the Manifesto offers a new paradigm for a New Model of citizenship.
